INSPIRATION COMES FROM MANY SOURCES
Especially Fashion!
When people come to my jewelry shows they often ask me "Where does your inspiration come from?". I would say that my design inspiration comes from everywhere! People, places, things, fabrics, fashion, colors, nature, photographs, etc. I often get design inspiration when I am out for my morning run...something about exercise always stimulates my creative juices! I will get an idea when I'm several miles from home and then I can't wait to get home and start it. I never try to force creativity - if an idea isn't in my head first I just wait until something hits me. If I'm in a creative slump (yes, it does happen), I immediately go to SouthSun bead store and browse for a an hour. Looking at all of the amazing beads and stones usually gets the ideas flowing! http://www.southsun.com/. Another one of my favorite bead sources is Happy Mango Beads http://www.happymangobeads.com/.I recently hosted a CAbi Clothing party for my sister-in-law Beth Shannon (bethcabi@yahoo.com). Beth came to the house and brought the entire season of CAbi clothes and did a wonderful presentation. About 35 women showed up to my party and it was really fun trying on all the outfits. I love that CAbi is all separates so you can mix 'n match everything. Since I hosted the show, I got several pieces @ 50% OFF so I chose the outfit in the photo below (except I substituted black skinny jeans and white Bree jeans for the pink). I also ordered a couple of cute tops for my 16-yr-old Hannah - she and I will be sharing these! When I received the clothes the other day, I was pleasantly surprised at the great quality and construction of the pieces and also how well everything fit! The skinny jeans feel amazing on and the top is soooo comfortable and versatile. The fabric pattern is also what inspired me to come up with this long-style KNOTTY necklace which I will be wearing today to a PROM send-off party for my daughter and her boyfriend. Below are the photos of both the CAbi clothes that inspired this jewelry and WHAT I DESIGNED TODAY!
