Help Charlie Fight Brain Cancer

Surf Soccer Player CHARLIE DENNY

"Charlie is the youngest of four children, 13 years old with a heart of gold. He is funny, kind & loves life. He is a huge athlete, and has played competitive soccer since the age of five. He loves snowboarding, skateboarding, golf, and anything outside. Charlie's smile is contagious & has a strong passion for music. On a monday afternoon, after eight weeks of complaining of headaches, we received a phone call that would change our lives forever. Charlie was diagnosed with a Medulloblastoma, a malignant tumor of the brain. We were told that he needed brain surgery immediately, we went straight to the ER. On tuesday morning, Charlie spent two hours in the MRI machine to check his brain stem and spine. On Wednesday morning he endured five hours of brain surgery to remove the tumor. As the tumor was located in the cerebellum, Charlie endured three straight days of vomiting and was very sick. He pulled through and so far Charlie has been so strong, like any other child going through cancer, the biggest thing to conquer is the fear. We are a strong family, but this has made us question everything we have ever believed in. Charlie has a long, and hard path ahead of him so please help us get through this devastating time and help Charlie! Please Pray for him!"

Thank you so much for your love and support

When I heard about the Denny Family and what they are going through, my first thought was what can I do? My second thought was, I have a 17-yr old son who has been relatively healthy his whole life.  I have never been touched by something like this in my own family (thank God) and I can't imagine how scary it must be.  We know this family through our association with the Surf Soccer Club.  Charlie's older brother Jack has played several seasons on my son's team.  Charlie's mom Ann Denny has worked tirelessly for the Surf Soccer Club - volunteering literally hundreds and hundreds of hours for the club, and working as our team as manager throughout the years, etc.  If you've ever been to a soccer tournament at the Del Mar Polo Fields, you have no doubt noticed a cheerful, smiling, woman with blonde spikey hair named Ann (and a strong cockney British accent) running the "chicken booth" and making sure that every person in line gets their hot Terriyaki Chicken Bowl within seconds of ordering it.  She is the reason that the booth has raised tens of thousands of dollars at every tournament and she runs a tight ship - trust me, I have worked a few shifts under her watch!  In any event, it really does make you question and wonder - why now this???  We don't know why these things happen to good people but rather than wasting time wondering - just please, please go to their fundraising site and DONATE what you can to help them with the enormous medical expenses that are no doubt piling up due to this unexpected surgery and treatment.  Every little bit helps to ease their financial burden.
Thank you so much!

With LOVE and Support,
Heather Short
